Very excited about this quilt, which was my take on a challenge to design a quilt using 2.5″ strips of fabric. Each strip is quilted with a different free motion quilt design. It was inspired by a photo I saw on Facebook of a linen wall hanging made by Judith Poxson Fawkes.

Leave a commentis there a pattern for this?
I’m sorry. I didn’t use a pattern. I sewed together a jelly roll using the jelly roll race method until I had a long length with 8 strips. Then I cut two parallelograms on the bias. I needed two 90 degree triangles so I cut a square from the remaining length of 8 strips and cut it on the diagonal. I had to make a few of these to end up with what I wanted that had 4 usable half squares. Finally I sewed the black and white 90 degree triangles to fill in at the bottom and top. Hope that helps. oh – one other hint. The first thing I did was diagram it out and then cut the paper quilt into its geometric parts. That helped me decide how to assemble the quilt.
Sorry – see the other comments. I didn’t use a pattern, and I it would take me forever to create one. I just started sewing and cutting….
Love you quilt. I made a top using the same inspiration image. (Not quilted yet) Mine is green and purple from s Bali pop strip set. It’s so cool to see another interpretation!
That’s really exciting I would love to see your quilt. Sounds beautiful
I love the different designs of your quilts. I love the more modern Look.
I have been quilting for 15 years and always looking for new ideas.
Thanks for the comment, Nancy. Sounds like we have a lot in common quilt-wise. I have been quilting about half the time you have, but I’m totally addicted. Happy quilting
This is so pretty. What size is it? Please post of you write a pattern.
The quilt is 52 inches by 56 inches. You could actually make it almost any size you want. I would graph it out to get close to the desired size. I used 8 – 2.5 inch strips as the starting point and then started cutting that up for the bias intersections.
I think you should write a pattern for this, I would be interested in purchasing this.
Thanks Barb
Thanks Barb. I will think about it. I will let you know.
I saw your quilt and decided to attempt it with some leftover scraps. I had a lot of blue scraps so the colors worked out perfectly.
I wanted mine to end up 50 x 60, it end up square at 60″.
I am wondering if you used a 45 degree angle to cut the long center pieces?
Yes – I used a 45 degree angle for cutting the pieces. I’m so pleased to hear that you also made the quilt. Fun geometrical challenge.
I’m a non-confident quilter and would love to have a pattern to follow to make this beautiful piece. Don’t know a thing about 90 degree rulers! Would you generate a pattern? Yes, I’d pay you for it!
Sorry – but I don’t have a pattern. I just sort of started cutting using the 90 degree mark on my cutting mat and then sewing the pieces back together. I am not so good at remembering what I did, as it was trial and error.
I’m like Sue and would love to have a pattern for this. and Yes am willing to pay for it.
Wow, this just jumped out at me! LOVE it! Now if I can just find time to do it, after al the other inspirational patterns I have! Jelly roll time!
How long were the 8 sewn together strips before you cut the triangles?
I’m sorry to say I don’t know the answer. I just sewed and cut at will and didn’t measure anything.
